Manufacturing of SIKA-R…AX Products

SIKA-R...AX filter elements are formed by co-axial pressing.

The metal powder is filled into the appropriate die and compacted in the axial direction by upper and lower tooling. The pore size of the finished product can be controlled by the choice of powder size and the pressing force used to form the part.

A wide range of geometries can be achieved by this process, similar to conventional PM.

The compacted part is heated to an elevated temperature in a controlled atmosphere within a specially designed furnace. During the sintering process – which is carried at a temperature well below the materials melting point - the individual powder particles form strong metallurgical bonds. At this point the product has shape stability and the mechanical properties of a metallic component.
