Liquid resin infusion (LRI)

Overview

A process where dry carbon fibre material is laid into a tool. The carbon material can be pre-formed into 3D shapes. The resin is then injected according to precise requirements of temperature and pressure.

Advantages

  • Single mould used – less cost
  • Large volume parts with low cost tooling
  • Good strength from pre-form
  • Repeatable process
  • Clean process
  • Ambient curing
  • Integrated solutions

Used on

  • Integrated wing programme
  • Next generation composite wing programme
